AIG elects new CEO and president
The Board of Directors of American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced the election of Robert H. Benmosche as the insurer’s new chief executive officer and president.
Benmosche, who was also elected to the Board itself, will assume his new positions on 10 August when the incumbent CEO and chairman Edward M. Liddy retires.
Benmosche is a former chairman, CEO and president of MetLife, and earlier in his career served as an executive VP with PaineWebber, Inc.
Liddy has praised Benmosche as a highly experienced executive, adding that both the firm and US taxpayers (to whom AIG is indebted) are fortunate to have in a leadership position.
Liddy also pledged that the transition as Benmosche takes over the reins will be seamless.
Search Committee Chairman Dennis Dammerman has described the new president as a perfect match for AIG and lauded his outstanding track record to date.
In addition to this appointment chief restructuring officer and vice chairman Paula Rosput Reynolds has announced that she is to part ways with the firm in the latter half of the third quarter of this year.
