BIBA named Trade Association of the Year

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) has been named 2009 Trade Association of the Year.

The body, which represents 17,000 UK brokers, received the Best Practice Award from the Trade Association Forum and also won the Commercial Initiative and Exhibition categories.

Thirty seven other associations were in the running but judges were impressed with BIBA’s ability to pursue and achieve excellence in its activities “whether that be sector representation, communicating with members or undertaking commercial activity”.

As an added endorsement, judges acknowledged that BIBA employs only 16 staff making its performance “truly remarkable”.

BIBA chief executive, Eric Galbraith, says: “This award is a testament to the hard work of the BIBA team and we are delighted to receive recognition from our trade association peers.”

BIBA was also a finalist in the Electronic Communication Award, Magazine Award, Newsletter Award, Sector Representation Award, Social Initiative Award and Website Award categories.
