Ecclesiastical provides poetic thanks for carers
Specialist insurer Ecclesiastical has taken part in an odd marriage between insurance and poetry to become the first British insurer to compile a booklet of specially-commissioned poetry.
The pamphlet (People Who Care) features work from a quartet of fresh new poets to celebrate the vitally important work done by British carers.
The poems were composed following visits, at Ecclesiastical’s direction, to care homes, after which the poets wrote about their experiences and thoughts.
The new poems are coupled with photography taken during the visits, and thousands of copies will be issued for free to carers as thanks for the tremendous work they do.
Later this summer, the poets will return to the care homes they visited and recite their work before the staff members who inspired them.
Steve Wood, MD, explained the unorthodox step had been taken in the wake of research on carers and findings that showed most people considered them undervalued.
The insurer has a track record of charity, and was recently named as the seventh largest corporate charity donor in the UK, providing charities with over £14m in the last year.
