XL Insurance has announced it has expanded its US Aviation team with four new hires in its underwriting team, based in New York.

Armand Ferranti, Jr., Eileen Mitchell and Charles Koehler all become class underwriters, and Isabel Marin takes up the role of business analyst.

Ferranti joins the firm from Global Aerospace, leaving behind his post there as general aviation underwriter.

Mitchell brings with her experience of brokerage in aviation and has worked for Integro and Marsh during her career.

Koehler was formerly an aviation broker with William Gallagher Associates and, like Ferranti, has worked for Global Aerospace as a general aviation underwriter.

US regional manager for the Aviation unit, Eric Donofrio, has explained that the quartet has been recruited to bolster the experience and in-house strength of XL’s Aviation team.

XL Insurance has underwriting and claims staff for Aviation across the globe, in New York, London, Toronto, and Munich, and expects, according to Donofrio, to continue expanding its Aviation staff in this year and the next.
