Heath Lambert Group has announced that it has been appointed as the sole provider of cover for Debenhams Retail’s home insurance.

The deal extends over the next five years and the new offering will be available across the group’s 154 stores in the UK and Ireland and via its Debenhams Direct online shopping facility.

The news comes just days after Heath Lambert won the insurance tender for the London Tideway Tunnels project, which is a Thames Water project.

The work aims to substantially reduce the volume of untreated sewage discharged into the River Thames from London’s Victorian sewers, after rainfall.

The newly created Lee Tunnel will run seven kilometres from Abbey Mills near Stratford in east London to Beckton Sewage Treatment Works.

Commenting on the award, Thames Water’s insurance manager, Nick Fairweather, said: “Heath Lambert showed a clear understanding of the detailed requirements of this project, and logical illustration of how they can work with the insurance market to get the best terms for delivery.”

Construction is scheduled to begin early next year.
