The Big Lunch, a new initiative by the Eden Project, has picked Event Insurance Services to provide street parties throughout the UK with liability coverage.

The Big Lunch takes place on 19 July and invites every Briton in the country to sit down and eat dinner with their neighbours to help foster community spirit.

To date 6,500 people are organising such events across the UK with a forecast turnout of half a million.

Event Insurance Services’ MD Lucy Scurlock-Jones has expressed the firm’s delight at being selected by the Big Lunch, and stated that those participating can enjoy discounted Public Liability insurance.

Big Lunch chief executive Paul Twivy has explained that the principle behind the initiative is simply to help build up a sense of community.
