Towergate this week launched a new business offering insurance cover to media and events.

Towergate Coverex was formed with a merger of Woodgates and Coverex International, together with some of Towergate’s existing specialisms.

John Harrison, appointed as CEO, will lead a 33-strong team at the new unit.

Harrison was formerly the CEO of Woodgates, an events and exhibitions insurer acquired by Towergate in February 2008.

The new business will operate as a specialist wholesale and retail broker, offering quality risk management advice to events organisers and contractors, as well as media performers including actors, dancers, and musicians.

“Towergate Coverex enables us to continue to service our clients with the personal touch of a smaller company whilst maintaining the high standards for which we are recognised,” Harrison said.

“This new specialist capability also gives us greater access to a wider range of products combined with the benefits of greater purchasing power.”
