Aviva warns festival-goers to be careful

With more than 500 festivals in the UK due to be attended by some 3 million festival-goers, festival fever is upon us.

However, although the UK festival scene is enjoying rises in attendance, sadly crime is also increasing.

From 2007 to 2008 crime was up 78%, making it even more imperative that those going to festivals are properly covered should the worst happen and that appropriate measures are taken to help protect against crime.

Aviva, formerly Norwich Union, has stated that due to expensive and small goods such as mp3 players, it is common for items valued at £500 or more to be taken to festivals, providing rich picking for thieves.

The total can rise to around £1,000 once cash, credit cards and sleeping bags and tents are taken into account.

Under the Personal Belongings section of Aviva’s home policy valuables are covered wherever they are, and Personal Belongings costs from £15 per annum.
