UK Landlord and Tenant insurer HomeLet has launched a new contents insurance product aimed at tenants, Tenant’s Contents Insurance +, following feedback from its customer base.

HomeLet has recognised that tenants increasingly frequently share the costs of renting with a friend/colleague and the new policy takes account of this by permitting up to three to share it, provided they are all employed and not full-time students.

To help combat under-insurance the firm has also doubled the minimum level of coverage, at no additional cost, and many formerly high-risk areas have been reclassified and will lead to lower costs for many.

However, for those still in areas categorised as high-risk, HomeLet has responded by increasing the competitiveness of the policy.

HomeLet MD John Boyle has stated that the new policy will cover accidental damage to the landlord’s contents, buildings, fixtures and fittings up to £2,500.
