Beazley Group has announced that it is establishing a unit dedicated to environmental risks underwriting.

The new unit will deal with a broad range of environmental underwriting and serve both current and future clients.

John Beauchamp joins Beazley to lead the new unit, and brings with him over two decades of experience in the environmental and engineering/construction insurance sector.

He leaves behind XL Insurance, where he held numerous senior management and underwriting positions, latterly as senior VP of the environmental operating unit.

In his new post he will be directly responsible to Jerry Sullivan, leader of the global architects and engineers (A&E) professional liability team.

The new environmental products of Beazley will form part of the firm’s Specialty Lines division.

Adrian Cox, head of Beazley’s Specialty Lines division, has warmly welcomed Beauchamp’s appointment.
