Aon clinches Man Utd shirt sponsorship
Aon has signed a £20 million per year shirt sponsorship deal with Manchester United Football Club.
The four-year contract will see Aon replace troubled US insurance firm AIG as shirt sponsor to the Premier League champions from June 2010.
AIG confirmed in January that it would not be renewing its £14 million per year shirt sponsorship deal with United following its $120 billion bailout by the US government.
David Gill, Manchester United chief executive, said: “We are delighted to be entering such an important relationship with a company of the stature of Aon.”
News of the sponsorship deal comes as redundancy notices are being handed out in Aon’s London headquarters, whilst staff remaining in post have had their salaries frozen.
