Kwik Fit Insurance are strongly advising Britons taking a holiday in the UK to make sure they have adequate travel insurance.

With the recession continuing many are looking to reduce their outgoings, and may consider insurance a soft option.

However, as Kwik Fit Insurance MD Brendan Devine states, it is just as easy to lose money or luggage in Scotland as it is overseas, and travel insurance shouldn’t be skipped over.

The insurance firm conducted a summer insurance survey to assess how the economic difficulties are affecting personal spending habits.

Nearly 20% had confessed to going on holiday without insurance, and half indicated they would still go on holiday even given the economic challenges.

The recent financial events have however made debt far less acceptable than in the past, with 83% stating they would not incur debts in order to go on holiday.

Britons considering a trip to the Channel Islands should also bear in mind that the insurance arrangements have recently undergone dramatic change.

Now holidaymakers are required to pay for their own medical treatment should they fall ill, making travel insurance a necessity, not a luxury.
