BIBA appoints Aon Corporate CEO to board
The British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) is appointing Robert Brown, chief executive officer of Aon Corporate and Affinity, to its board.
Mr Brown, who has worked in the insurance industry for 25 years, will take up the post in July 2009 and Eric Galbraith, BIBA’s chief executive, believes his wealth of knowledge and experience will be “invaluable” to the board.
Mr Brown was appointed chief executive officer of Aon Corporate in January 2008 since when he has led Aon’s retail broking activities for mid to large UK companies.
Prior to this, he was head of risk transfer for Aon Global, having previously worked mainly in underwriting for 17 years.
Although predominately based in London throughout his career, Mr Brown spent four years in Switzerland undertaking various management roles, including chief multi-line underwriting officer for Winterthur International.
Commenting on his appointment Mr Brown says: “There are many challenges facing the broking sector over the coming years. For some, it is simply to survive. For others, it is to emerge from the recession in a position of strength.”
He adds: “For the industry as a whole, there are issues we all will face, such as regulatory changes. As the voice of the UK broking industry, BIBA will be at the forefront in ensuring our concerns are aired and heard.”
