The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies has announced the appointment of Stuart A. Spencer as the new chief operating officer of Worldwide Accident & Health.

He leaves behind AIG, where he held the post of president of Worldwide Accident and Health Division of AIG’s Life Companies, to join the firm.

Earlier in his career Spencer was a partner and chief operating officer of The Golden Rule LLC and has also worked for American Express as director of corporate card marketing.

Spencer, who assumes his new post on 1 June, will be directly responsible to Andrew A. McElwee, Jr., executive VP of Chubb & Son and Chubb Personal Insurance’s chief operating officer.

McElwee has welcomed Spencer’s appointment to the post, and praised his extensive experience.
