Personal lines broker, BGL Group, has expanded into personal accident cover.

The firm has developed the new offering in partnership with Avon Insurance and will be marketing it across all brands, including Budget, ibuyeco, Quote Mart and Dial Direct.

Cover will also be available via partner brands of the firm’s affinity arm, Junction, in the coming months.

The new product offers accidental death cover worth up to £15,000, cover for disablement of up to £100,000 and hospital stays up to £13,500.

New policies come with no charge in the first six months and acceptance is guaranteed for anyone aged 18 to 69, with no need for medical screening.

BGL’s director of own insurance brands, Andy Bord, says: “This is an important step in offering our customers affordable products beyond our traditional business of motor and home insurance.”

Avon’s managing director, Julian Skelton, adds: “The BGL Group is behind some major brands in motor and home insurance. With more than two million policyholders it’s a significant player in personal lines, and … there are very exciting prospects for our partnership with the group in this new area.”
