Specialist insurer Amlin Plc has named Alex Hindson as the new head of Group Risk.

He leaves behind Aon Global Risk Consulting where he leads a team of a dozen consultants as head of Enterprise Risk Management for the EMEA region, formulating and enacting risk management solutions for large global clients.

Prior to Aon, Hindson worked for AstraZeneca for the best part of two decades, most latterly as risk services manager where he was responsible for a business-wide risk management strategy, in addition to managed corporate governance risk reporting.

In his new post Hindson is directly responsible to group chief risk officer, James Illingworth, and will be tasked with ensuring the firm continues to maintain high standards of risk management throughout its business.

Illingworth has stated that the firm is constantly improving its framework of risk management, and explained that Hindson’s presence would be instrumental in embedding risk management throughout the firm.
