Saga adds healthcare option to car insurance

Saga has enhanced its car insurance offering with an option of added healthcare cover for injuries sustained in a road accident that requires medical care.

The insurer is aware that health concerns are a major source of anxiety for the over 50s and is promoting its new Accident Healthcare as offering the best chance of a speedy recovery.

The policy add-on provides up to £1 million cover for private non-emergency treatment recommended by the customer’s doctor, after any initial emergency treatment has been received.

Cover is limited to injuries sustained in a UK road traffic accident and both new and existing Saga customers can apply at a cost equivalent of £3.95 per month for individual cover, or £5.45 per month for couples.

Policyholders are covered when driving their own car, as a passenger in another vehicle and if involved in an accident as a pedestrian or cyclist.

Saga Group chief executive, Andrew Goodsell, comments: “At times like these, older people in particular value quick access to high quality care that private healthcare provides.”
