UK-based insurer Hiscox has reorganised its structure to reflect its recent expansion in the US.

The group has renamed its Lloyd’s Global Markets unit as Hiscox London Market, and has promoted Russell Merrett to managing director of this division.

The division will now focus solely on the London market.

Meanwhile, the group’s US operations have been unified into a single operation called Hiscox USA, with Richard Watson appointed as CEO.

Watson was formerly the managing director of Hiscox Global Markets.

Hiscox Global Markets’ offices in Paris and New York will now be merged into Hiscox Europe and Hiscox USA respectively.

Ed Donnelly will continue in his role as Hiscox USA president, and Robert Childs will remain chairman.

Steve Langan will remain managing director of Hiscox UK, and Steve Camm will continue to serve as managing director of Hiscox Guernsey.

Michael Gould will remain acting managing director of Hiscox Europe.

Hiscox chief executive Bronek Masojada said: “We have expanded in the US and we now have over 150 staff and 10 offices there.

“We are strengthening our management in the US with the appointment of Richard Watson to CEO of Hiscox USA.”

He added that Hiscox remains committed to London.
