Assurant Solutions has launched a home emergency assistance policy, aimed at helping homeowners deal with the cost of unexpected repairs.

Cover can be purchased via online provider, Protectyourbubble.com, and customers can avail themselves of a “Silver” policy, which includes drains, plumbing, mains service supply and home security, or go for “Gold” which extends to primary heating and boiler inspection.

Assurant’s managing director, Drazen Jaksic, stresses that the policy is not designed to replace other insurances such as buildings and contents but is intended to “fill any gaps in cover”.

He adds: “When disaster strikes at home, people want the problem sorted out quickly. We’ve designed an insurance solution that does just that.”

The US-headquartered firm specialises in niche insurance protection products, which is says can minimise the financial hardship that results from some life events.

Products include mortgage, loan and credit card payment protection, income protection, credit card price and purchase protection.

The company also offers a range of personal property insurance such as product replacement, tailored personal property protection, home emergency insurance, home appliances protection and portable electronics cover.
