QBE appoints new Americas CEO
QBE yesterday announced the appointment of John Rumpler as chief executive of its Americas Division.
In his new role, Rumpler will lead the Americas division of the Australia-based insurance group, continuing its strategy of growth and focused diversification.
Rumpler has worked at QBE since 1997. He led the development of the group’s credit, surety, and lenders mortgage insurance business as the general manger of its Credit and Surety division.
Under Rumpler’s leadership, the credit and surety business grew to more than AUS$550 million in gross written premiums, with operations in 13 countries.
Rumpler will succeed Vince McLenaghan as leader of the America’s division.
McLenaghan said: “We expect a seamless transition.
“In John’s previous role, he was closely involved in the development of our US Trade Credit and Surety business, and recently in the acquisitions of the Exporters team and ZC Sterling.
“He is well equipped to take the helm and continue QBE’s momentum in the Americas.”
Rumpler added: “QBE has a stable and proven leadership team in the Americas.
“I look forward to working more closely with them to further strengthen our balance sheet and the long-term financial health of our Company, partners and shareholders.”
In 2008, the Americas division posted a net income of $236 million on gross written premiums of £3.7 billion.
Rumpler will take up his appointment in the New York-based role in June.
