Aon Energy strengthens UK team
n Risk Services’ Aon Specialty division has launched the United Kingdom part of its global Aon Energy unit.
The integration of Benfield Corporate Risks’ energy specialists into Aon Speciality has delivered the new energy team.
The UK team will be led by chairman Magne Seljeflot and head of energy William “Monty” Lynch, beneath whom 100 professionals will be working.
Seljeflot has highlighted the importance of energy to Aon by citing the firm’s 30% coverage of the global energy premium.
Aon Energy’s global chief executive officer, Bruce Jefferis, has described the move as meaning that, for the first time, Aon’s expertise in energy is integrated into a single team.
With energy clients facing complex risk management choices and advice more important than ever Aon has bolstered the numbers at its energy teams in London, America, Norway, Canada, and Australia.
The news comes shortly after Aon announced that, as part of is strategic drive to reduce costs, it would be cutting the contribution it makes to employees’ pensions.
With the final salary pension scheme already closed, Aon will now be reducing its contributions to the pensions of its UK workforce by up to half.
