General insurance and reinsurance firm Brit Insurance Holdings PLC has announced it is bolstering its Birmingham presence with the additions of Edward Hanson and Gary Suffolk.

Hanson and Suffolk, Professional Risks underwriter and Commercial Combined underwriter respectively, have been appointed by Brit to enhance the firm’s underwriting capabilities in Birmingham.

Hanson leaves behind RSA Insurance to join Brit, and during his time with RSA occupied a range of senior posts and was latterly Professional & Financial Risks trading underwriter.

He brings with him over two decades of experience in the sector and will be tasked with supporting the continued growth and development of Brit’s Financial Lines account in the Midlands area.

Suffolk was previously an underwriter in the Major Customer and International Corporate team of Zurich before joining Brit Insurance.

Rosie O’Gara, regional manager, has welcomed the two appointments and stated that they indicate the firm’s continuing commitment to the Midlands region.
