Jobs at risk as Direct Choice relocates
Direct Choice is closing its call centres in Newmarket and Ipswich and has given staff the option of taking redundancy or relocating to a new headquarters in Folkestone.
The firm is part of the AA / Saga merged entity created in 2007 under the Acromas Holdings umbrella.
The firm says it is centralising its operations in Folkestone where Saga now operates from Cheriton Parc House, a building acquired by Acromas from Eurotunnel in August of last year.
According to Saga spokesman, Paul Green, Direct Choice has outgrown the Newmarket offices and staff are being encouraged to relocate.
The group is even organising overnight trips to Folkestone to give employees an opportunity to see the area before making a decision.
However, Acromas says it is preparing redundancy packages for any of the 220 people affected who do not wish to move.
Direct Choice has been trading since 1974 and provides general insurance products from its panel of insurers via the internet and phone.
