Helphire posts £59m half-year loss

Accident claim handler Helphire has posted its half-year results with a pre-tax loss of £59.3 million despite turnover increasing 10%. HBOS insurance profits up 15%

The insurance and investments division of Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) reported profits were up 15% in 2008 to £739 million, compared to £644 million in 2007. Berkshire Hathaway profit down 96%

Berkshire Hathaway Inc has reported a 96% fall in profit for the final quarter of 2008, to $117 million.
