Cornish Mutual appoints trio of board members
Insurer Cornish Mutual’s members have cast their votes and chosen to elect a trio of new board members at the firm’s AGM, which was held on 26 March.
Peter Beaumont, finance director, was appointed to the board along with Ian Pawley and Leslie Baker.
More than 20,000 members were written to with invitations to attend, and many did, with a number of proxy votes also sent to the meeting.
Beaumont joined the firm from Close Asset Finance Ltd, corporate finance specialists, where he worked as group financial controller.
Pawley was formerly managing partner with legal firm Stephens Scown, and has lived and worked around Cornwall for his entire professional life, thereby learning a great deal of local knowledge and expertise in agriculture and inheritance tax issues.
Leslie Baker retired two years ago after more than four decades in the insurance industry, and was born and raised in Cornwall.
Cornish Mutual is over a century old, and was founded by the county’s farmers. It operates out of offices in Exeter and Truro, and serves not only Cornwall but also Devon, Somerset and Dorset.
