Willis appoints Capital Markets CEO
Willis Group Holdings has named Tony Ursano as the new chief executive officer of Willis Capital Markets and Advisory Services.
He joins Willis from Banc of America Securities where he latterly served as vice chairman following almost a decade building up the firm’s corporate and investment banking business.
An industry veteran, Ursano has spent more than 20 years in the financial sector and during that time has worked for Merrill Lynch, SG Warburg & Company,and Donaldson and Lufkin & Jenrette.
Ursano takes up his post on 10 April and will lead the newly formed division in its mission to advise firms dedicated to insurance and reinsurance, in addition to clients with particular needs regarding capital markets products as well as M&A.
He will report directly to Patrick Regan, the group chief operating officer and chief financial officer, and also be tasked with responsibility of the firm’s M&A division, Corporate Development.
Regan has welcomed Ursano’s recruitment, describing him as the ideal person to spearhead the firm’s efforts due to his extensive experience.
