LV=, the mutual insurance and investment group, has announced that it is to team up with ASDA, which in addition to its well-known supermarket network also provides financial services.

Under the deal ASDA customers will benefit from a range of road rescue products provided to it from LV=, through the insurer’s Britannia Rescue division.

The agreement takes effect later in March and has an initial length of three years, with the products available both at ASDA’s stores and over the internet.

The products will provide coverage for vehicles within the UK and Europe, with a personal option available, and prices for full UK breakdown cover will begin from £73.92.

LV= General Insurance business development director Andrew Beard has expressed his delight at the deal, citing ASDA’s substantial customer base and adding that the firm had big plans to expand its general insurance business, with commercial partnerships playing an important rule in the firm’s future strategy.

The deal with ASDA follows on from an insurance partnership with the Nationwide Building Society in December of last year whereby LV= provided the building society with a range of insurance products.

In a similar move earlier, LV= had formed a protection partnership with Standard Life.
