Beazley Group plc has announced that it has promoted Patrick Hartigan and that he will be leading the firm’s Reinsurance division.

Hartigan, who assumes his new role on 1 August, will report directly to Neil Maidment, underwriting committee chairman.

Maidment is to retain a supervisory role over the Reinsurance division, as well as the Political and Contingency Group (PCG) and the Accident and Life division.

However, Hartigan is to be responsible for the Reinsurance division on a day-to-day basis.

Hartigan has spent five years with Beazley, originally joining as a deputy underwriter in 2004 having previously worked Aon Re as an account executive.

He brings 18 years of experience of non-life reinsurance, and has personal knowledge of the roles of both underwriting and broking.
