Swiss Re’s chairman of the Board of Directors, Peter Forstmoser, has resigned.

He is to be succeeded by the vice chairman, Walter B. Kielholz, with Forstmoser officially relinquishing the role on 1 May of this year.

Mathis Cabiallavetta is to take up the post of vice chairman.

Forstmoser has stated that he has stepped down one year earlier than originally intended as the firm has adopted a new course.

He has been on the board for the last 19 years, and since 2000 has served as its chairman.

Kielholz has said that although the firm’s results are disappointing, he believes that at its core the business is a strong one with good opportunities awaiting it in the future.

Because of his new position Kielholz has given up his role as chairman of investment bank Credit Suisse and has said that he looks forward to working hard and collaborating with his colleagues at Swiss Re.
