Staysure plans online motor and home insurance launch

Staysure Travel Insurance has plans to launch new online motor and home brands by the summer of this year.

The broker has signed a three-year contract with software provider, Open GI, to develop the new business alongside its existing online brands, Staysure.co.uk and Insureme4.co.uk.

Staysure.co.uk was launched in 2004 and focuses on the over 50’s travel insurance market, while Insureme4.co.uk caters for all age groups.

The firm’s online expansion will be powered by Open GI’s eBroker technology, which will provide fully branded sites with quote and buy functionality, directly integrated to the broker’s back-office.

Chief executive, Ryan Howsam, comments: “The decision to expand into motor and home insurance presents us with a great opportunity, but also a completely different set of challenges … with Open GI we are in the best possible position to continue our success in an increasingly competitive online market space.”

Open GI’s sales and marketing director, Simon Hughes, adds that as the economic downturn continues, “it’s more important than ever to stand out on the web”.

In related news, Staysure recently reported that research from Mintel has confirmed that while money may be tight in the recession, consumers have no intention of forgoing their holidays, although they may look for a cheaper option.

However, the established European hot spots are affected by the current unfavourable sterling / euro exchange rate and many people are therefore looking at destinations outside Europe.
