LIU Europe launches new crisis management team

Liberty International Underwriters Europe (LIU Europe) has expanded Liberty Mutual Group’s (of which it is a division) global crisis management capability with the creation of a new crisis management team.

The team, which is based in the UK, will begin with a pair of core products, product recall and kidnap and ransom (K&R), aimed at the European, the UK, and the London market.

The team will include veteran underwriters Julie Ross and Natalie Lilley, who together bring over four decades of insurance experience.

LIU Europe’s chief executive, Sean Rocks, has stated that as criminals begin to kidnap for ransom money the importance of crisis management companies has naturally increased, which has led to the team’s creation.

NYA International (formerly Neil Young and Associates) is the kidnap and ransom specialist providing support on the policy, and Red24 has been appointed as LIU’s crisis management specialist.

The addition of crisis management to LIU’s capabilities is the latest in a number of new teams launched by the firm in recent months.

In mid-February LIU announced it was creating an environmental liability team dedicated to underwriting a range of environmental risks, and in December a French energy team was established.
