Christopher Holborn has been named by Liberty International Underwriters (LIU) Europe as the firm’s new casualty manager for Continental Europe.

In his new role Holborn, who brings over two decades of industry experience with him, becomes responsible for covering the firm’s offices situated in Continental Europe.

He is to be based in Zurich where he will report to Gerard van Loon, MD of LIU Europe’s Continental European operations.

Holborn will be tasked with expanding the casualty lines businesses across the continent, in countries such as Spain, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and France.

Van Loon has welcomed his appointment, describing the move as underlining the firm’s commitment to underwriting expertise across Europe.

Holborn’s appointment comes two months after LIU Europe launched its first energy underwriting team.

The team is based in France, and caters to the needs of Continental Europe in areas such as oil, gas and power.
