Bluefin acquires Lakeland Insurance Services

Bluefin Insurance Services has acquired the general insurance business of Lakeland Insurance Services, which is based in Windermere and has around 2,000 clients.

Lakeland specialises in guesthouse insurance, having developed its own scheme for the sector and also provides SME and personal lines insurance.

Directors Eileen Holmes, Malcolm Dand and Ruth Dand will continue to work for the business, along with other staff.

The Bluefin brand was officially launched by Axa earlier this month, when Axa-backed brokers, Stuart Alexander, Smart & Cook, Layton Blackham, The Davis Group and SBJ UK combined to form Bluefin Insurance Services.

The Lakeland acquisition is the first to be made under the new brand and further purchases are anticipated.

A sister unit, Bluefin Advisory Services, was also launched by Axa this month and has combined a number of businesses, including Thinc Group, PIFC, EB Consultants, Orbit Benefits and SBJ Benefit.
