Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) has recruited Andy Bear to head its new transport, engineering and utilities industry practice group.

Mr Bear has expertise in dealing with the risk management and risk financing needs of both national and international organisations, particularly in the area of transport risks.

He has worked in the insurance industry since 1984, gaining experience in property/casualty broking, the design of insurance and risk financing solutions and in delivering insurance services to major organisations.

In addition Mr Bear has worked with government bodies and regulators, notably as insurance adviser to the UK government during the privatisation of the railways.

Commenting on the creation of the new unit, JLT’s managing director of global risk solutions, Ron Hayes, says the firm has seen its focus on industry sectors work very well, adding that the creation of a transport, engineering and utilities practice with a global remit is an exciting development.
