German legal services firm, ARAG, has been appointed by MMA Insurance to provide legal expenses cover alongside the firm’s commercial combined portfolio.

MMA is a broker-only insurer and the move will assist its customers by avoiding the need to obtain separate legal expenses quotes and complete proposal forms for standalone cover.

In addition, brokers using the ARAG facility through MMA will be eligible for commission at 17.5%.

MMA is in the process of broadening its offering to small and medium-sized businesses and last month made a number of key appointments within its business development team to this end.

The company’s commercial business has grown by 30% in the past five years and the firm opened a new office in Glasgow in October, as part of an ongoing strategy to develop its commercial lines portfolio.

ARAG will be visiting all MMA’s regional offices to provide training on its offering to underwriting teams.

The company is regarded as a leader in legal expenses insurance, operating across 13 European countries and employing over 3,700 staff.
