Caravan Guard donates to charity in online success

Specialist insurer Caravan Guard has announced that it has raised over £1,000 for Heart Research UK, by offering customers an online “paperless” policy option.

The caravan and motor-home insurer is making a £1 donation to the charity for every policy purchased through its “quote-and-buy” website, which was launched last summer.

Director, Craig Thompson, stresses that customers can still have their policies posted out if they prefer but believes more and more people are choosing to receive documentation by email because of environmental considerations.

He adds that the promise to make a donation to charity provides an extra incentive.

Heart Research UK funds research into the prevention, treatment and cure of heart disease and also promotes healthy heart lifestyles through its work with schools and community groups.

Last year, family-owned Caravan Guard was named “Customer Service Provider of the Year” in the UK Broker Awards 2008, after having upgraded its systems and premises in a £1 million investment.

The firm currently has around 50,000 customers and employs over 70 staff. Its policies are underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance.
