US-based insurance broker and risk insurer Marsh has appointed Kenneth Kwok to the newly created role of Hong Kong chairman.

Kwok will be responsible for unlocking Marsh’s potential in Hong Kong.

He plans to do this by forging new relationships with local businesses and strengthening the current Hong Kong team.

Kwok’s experience in the insurance sector spans 40 years and covers all aspects of insurance, from broking to underwriting.

Most recently, he was chairman of Falcon Insurance Hong Kong, a subsidiary of Canada-based Fairfax Financial Holdings.

Previously, Kwok held senior positions at HSBC Non-Life Holdings, Lombard Insurance Group and Jardine Insurance.

He will work alongside Marsh’s CEO for Hong Kong, David Jacob, and report to Paul Wilkins, CEO for Greater China.

Wilkins said: “I am extremely pleased to have Kenneth on board in Hong Kong, a critical market for Marsh in Asia.

Kenneth’s depth of experience in risk management will greatly benefit our current and future clients in Hong Kong, playing a critical role as we continue to grow our franchise across Greater China.”

Kwok added that he is ‘thrilled’ to join Marsh and looks forward to helping the company build on its growth trajectory.
