Merski the latest ex-AIG to join Zurich
Former AIG executive Rich Merski has transferred to Zurich Financial Services Group.
He was appointed this week as Zurich’s vice president and head of federal affairs in the US.
Merski’s most recent role was as manager of AIG’s government affairs activities. He joined AIG in 1985.
At Zurich, Merski will provide strategic direction to Zurich’s activity in political affairs and federal legislature.
His recruitment is the latest in over 100 ex-AIG appointments by Zurich since AIG was bailed out by the US government.
Additional AIG employees have walked out to take up positions at other insurers, including Ironshore and Ace.
Reacting to the news, an AIG spokesperson said the ‘vast majority’ of employees remain with the company.
