Ironshore names new global property head

John Murphy has joined Ironshore Inc. as the firm’s new Worldwide Head of Property.

The firm is largely focused on property catastrophe and non-catastrophe business from Bermuda, and aims to expand to the US and UK during the course of this year.

In his new post Murphy is tasked with ensuring a consistent global strategy across all the firm’s platforms.

He brings with him three and a half decades of experience of underwriting and has, for the last seven years, worked for Allied World Assurance Company as executive VP of global property underwriting.

Earlier in his career Murphy was vice president of Lexington Insurance’s property division.

He is based out of Boston and reports directly to Shaun Kelly, chief executive officer of Ironshore’s US operations, and Kevin Kelley, Ironshore’s CEO.
