Shropshire-based insurance broker Longmynd Insurance has joined agricultural broking group FarmWeb.
The move gives FarmWeb its first access to the Northern Irish market through Longmynd’s network of brokers.
Founded in 1989 by proprietor Robert Oakley, Longmynd has established a large farm account in Northern Ireland through an extensive panel of brokers. It also serves clients in Cheshire, Herefordshire, North Wales, Shropshire, and Staffordshire.
Oakley said Longmynd’s decision to join FarmWeb resulted from a year long review of products and services.
FarmWeb is attractive, Oakley added, because it offers flexible policies combined with competitive prices.
This will allow Longmynd to provide a better and more competitive service through the oncoming recession.
When Longmynd joins FarmWeb in March 2009, FarmWeb will provide agricultural insurance to a total of 3,500 farmers via a panel of 126 brokers.
FarmWeb’s chief executive, Elaine Pike, said her company ‘looks forward’ to working with Longmynd as it ventures into Northern Ireland for the first time.
FarmWeb’s insurance policies are provided through NIG, part of the Royal Bank of Scotland group. Its current gross sales exceed £30 million.
