PartnerRe US’ chief executive officer and president, Scott Moore, is to retire from the firm.

Tad Walker, presently chief underwriting officer, is to replace him as head of the firm’s US operations.

Although relinquishing his post as CEO and president, Moore will retain his position as deputy chairman of PartnerRe US until March of this year.

His departure marks the end of a decade long stint at the top of PartnerRe’s US business, prior to which he had served PartnerRe as chief financial officer.

Moore’s successor joined PartnerRe six years ago to lead the firm’s worldwide catastrophe underwriting operations.

Walker assumed his present post of chief underwriting officer for the US midway through 2007.

Patrick Thiele, president and CEO of PartnerRe, has paid tribute to Moore’s contribution to the firm, and stated his confidence in Walker’s leadership and capacity to take on Moore’s former duties.
