Marsh creates Scottish Public Sector Practice

Insurance broker and risk adviser Marsh has announced that it is opening a Scottish Public Sector Practice.

The new practice will cater to the unique risk and insurance issues belonging to various public sector organisations.

The practice has a broad range of clients throughout Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow, including fire and police authorities, local authorities, social housing, central government and government agencies.

To all these clients the practice offers insurance advice, as well as guidance regarding the particular risk factors that are relevant to each specific client.

Practice leader Gordon McLagan has stated that as the recession begins to unfold it is creating its own risk set for public sector organisations.

Efficiency targets remain untouched, yet budgets are being squeezed by the economic difficulties, leaving public sector bodies with the necessity of formulating an innovative approach to both balance the books and deliver the required level of service.

Scottish public sector organisations also have additional regulations to meet from the Scottish executive in the areas of health and safety, healthcare reform and education.
