Acumus Insurance Solutions is collaborating with a swathe of travel companies in a bid to meet the new regulations introduced by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) before the 15 November deadline.

Acumus, which specialises in travel insurance, is working with a number of well-known brands such as P&O Ferries, Jet2.com, Confetti, Debenhams Travel, Butlins, Haven Holiday and Shearings in anticipation of the new regulations.

It has announced over 20 applications to become Appointed Representative (AR), and has worked with coach firms and high street retail travel outlets throughout the country in an effort to ensure that agents are able to continue selling insurance after January 2009.

Acumus Travel’s MD, John Bibby, explained the firm applies to become Appointed Representative on behalf of its clients in order to provide customised solutions for clients in the fields of product, system and online training to allow them to continue selling insurance after January.

The new regulations will provide opportunity for new sources of revenue, according to Bibby, such as getting a foothold on the £42bn general insurance market.
