Beazley Group plc has announced that Martin Bride has been appointed as the firm’s new group finance director.

He leaves behind Zurich Financial Services, where he worked as chief financial officer of the UK Life business.

Bride brings with him extensive experience of the insurance industry, having also held the post of chief financial officer with Aviva France and directorships with Société Foncière Lyonnaise and Union Financière de France Banque.

He will assume his new post by Q2 of 2009, succeeding Andrew Horton who has held the position since 2003.

Horton is vacating the role due to being appointed chief executive in September.
