As the consequences of the credit crunch and deepening economic difficulties mount, insurer Ecclesiastical has designed a new wedding insurance policy aimed at ensuring that the most important day of all is not ruined by financial concerns.

The policy is flexible, enabling couples to shape it to their particular needs.

Premiums begin at just £30, which offers protection against public liability and cancellation, with optional additional coverage available for other areas (such as rings) which naturally will raise the premium required.

Darren Mabley-Jones, a wedding insurance manager, explains that as the squeeze is put on personal finances couples may be tempted to axe insurance costs.

However, he goes on to say that peace of mind is not something that should be cut back on, especially when it may prove essential in protecting the investment in a wedding day.

Because the level of coverage is tailored to the individual couple, so is the premium paid, meaning that couples are no longer forced to pay for coverage they don’t want or need.

In addition to weddings, Ecclesiastical also provides coverage for civil partnerships.
