Property casualty insurance provider W. R. Berkley Corporation has announced the creation of Berkley Professional Liability, LLC (BerkleyPro).

BerkleyPro will be a unit based in New York City, and will offer professional liability products such as directors and officers liability (D&O) insurance.

It will cater to the needs of larger public and non-public entities on behalf of the insurance companies that are members of W. R. Berkley Corporation.

The presidency of the new unit has been handed to John R. Benedetto, who brings 19 years of experience in the insurance and financial services sectors to the role.

Steven P. Walsh becomes executive VP, and Paul Brophy has been appointed to the position of senior VP, having accumulated 15 years of experience in underwriting and management during the course of his career.

W. R. Berkley Corporation’s CEO and chairman, William R. Berkley, has stated that the new unit’s formation is an indicator of the firm’s commitment to identifying new opportunities for increased returns.
