Willis Re has announced the establishment of a Protection & Indemnity (P&I) and Marine Mutual Reinsurance team.

The team falls underneath the Specialties Marine division umbrella, and Robin Brown vacates his previous post as an executive director to become the new team’s managing director.

Brown has been with the firm for a decade and a half, and brings over 30 years of industry experience to his new role as MD.

He will be tasked with expanding the international P&I and Marine Mutual Reinsurance business and delivery of transactional and analytical services.

Willis Re has also appointed a trio of new executive directors for the new team, namely Bruce Clayton, Martin Meier and Charles Spanton.

Clayton leaves behind Arthur J Gallagher and brings with him a quarter of a century of industry experience.

Meier, previously founder and owner of consultancy firm Meier Business Associates, has deep knowledge of the marine sector, having worked in it for over 20 years.

Spanton has over three decades of experience, and joins Willis Re from Spanton, where he served as senior VP of the Marine Treaty Department.

The three of them will be joined by present executive director Jason Cudlipp on the team.
