International property/casual insurer and reinsurer Catlin Group Limited has announced the appointment of Michael Hansen as Catlin Canada Inc’s president.

He brings to the role more than a quarter of a century of experience in aviation, as both an underwriter and a broker.

For the last six years he has worked for Catlin, previously having been with Leslie & Godwin as an underwriter.

Earlier in his career he worked for C.E. Heath, Aon, AIG and Markel International.

He takes over the role from Michael Wills, who has held the post since its inception three years ago.

He also works as co-head of the Aerospace Business Group, which has under its umbrella the global aviation insurance operations of Catlin.
