Navigators announced this week that it is now operating in China, offering underwriting insurance coverage to reinsurance businesses in the country through its Lloyd’s syndicate.
Lloyd’s Syndicate 1221 offers coverage in China through the Navigators Underwriting Division of Lloyd’s Reinsurance Company (China) Ltd (LRCCL).
It is the fifth Lloyd’s syndicate to establish a presence in Shanghai.
LRCCL, recently established and licensed in China, allows Lloyd’s syndicates to underwrite reinsurance business in China.
Syndicate 1221, managed by Navigators Underwriting Agency Limited, is Navigator’s main platform for business outside of the US. Syndicate 1221’s capacity is 100% supplied by Navigators.
Navigators CEO Stan Galanski said the company is ‘delighted’ to have set up business in China and is ‘optimistic’ about the long-term future of the Chinese market.
The Navigators Group is an international speciality insurance holding company. Based in New York, it has operations across the US, the UK and continental Europe.
