Beazley Group has stated that it is to open a new office in Munich, and has appointed Andreas Bergler to its reinsurance team.

Bergler will handle the European business that does not go through the typical wholesale channels to London.

His position and duties will mirror the strategic approach Beazley has taken to its business in the US.

Bergler will be tasked with establishing a regional account inside Europe, primarily focusing upon Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

He will report directly to head of Reinsurance and director of Beazley Group plc, Neil Maidment.

Maidment has explained that Germany is a key market for the firm, with a highly sophisticated reinsurance market that makes it a suitable location for the new office.
